Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan reached an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance with Ethical Electric Inc. (now CleanChoice Energy) over misleading direct-mail marketing that advertised a 'Clean Energy Option' as 100% wind and solar while the power originated from a mix including non-renewables offset by RECs, and prices were routinely more than 5% above ComEd rates contrary to marketing claims. Under the AVC, Ethical Electric agreed to refund affected Illinois customers, with refunds estimated at a minimum of approximately $191,673. [source]
