DC Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb announced a finalized consent decree requiring AltaGas (parent of WGL Holdings and WGL Energy Services) to pay at least $2.1 million in penalties to the District of Columbia. The settlement resolved AltaGas's breach of a commitment made in its 2018 merger agreement with WGL to develop 10 megawatts of solar energy to offset Washington Gas's greenhouse gas emissions. The consent decree also imposed ongoing daily penalties ($1,500/day in Q1 2025, rising to $3,600/day thereafter) until the 10 MW solar obligation is fulfilled. [source]
