AES Ohio's Proactive Reliability Optimization (PRO) Rider (D32) funds targeted grid reliability improvement projects. Ohio utilities have faced pressure from PUCO and customers to improve reliability metrics — specifically SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) and SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index). The PRO rider was approved to fund a defined program of proactive infrastructure replacement and reliability improvements that would reduce outage frequency and duration, with PUCO oversight of program performance.
