IGS Energy
About IGS Energy
IGS Energy (Interstate Gas Supply, Inc.) is a privately held, family-owned retail natural gas and electricity supplier founded in 1989 in Dublin, Ohio. The company serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers across deregulated energy markets in the United States and Canada. Following its 2025 acquisition of Just Energy, IGS serves approximately 7.5 million residential customer equivalents across more than a dozen states.
Company background
IGS Energy was founded in 1989 by Marvin White and his son Scott White as a commercial and industrial wholesale supplier of Ohio-produced natural gas. The company expanded into retail natural gas marketing in 1992 and entered the residential market after Ohio deregulated residential natural gas service in 1997. IGS has grown through acquisitions: Accent Energy (2011), Border Energy (2014), DPL Energy Resources/DPLER (2016), Dominion Energy Solutions (2021–2022), and Just Energy (2025). In 2025, IGS acquired Just Energy — a Houston-based retail energy company operating under the Just Energy, Hudson Energy, Amigo Energy, and Tara Energy brands — making it one of the largest retail energy companies in North America.
